Chinese New Year, February 2019

Thank you to the PTFA for funding our Chinese New Year workshops.

Chinese new year celebrations began on the 5th February 2019 and last for 15 days. 2019 is the Year of the Earth Pig.

Dragon dances are performed at New Year to scare away evil spirits. The dragon symbolises good luck, long life and wisdom.

We had a visit from a professional dancer who brought a traditional Chinese dragon, parasols and fans for the whole class to create an exciting dance performance. These performances were showcased at the end of the school day for everyone to enjoy.

Reception class made their own Chinese dragon and danced with it in assembly.  See their wonderful display in the hall..
