GANAS project share – 13th February 2019

Thank you for all the wonderful and creative projects that have come into school this week. We hope you enjoyed all the collaborative learning that has taken place around your projects. We certainly feel the children get a lot out of this style of learning. The variety of projects is what amazes us from cakes to powerpoints, to blogs, to models, to posters, to games, it’s extraordinary!  Well done all!

Quote from one of my Governors who came:

‘What a glorious visit today to view the children’s work. I spoke to several. They were enthusiastic and fascinated not just with their own projects but everyone else’s too. What a lot of vocabulary these projects stimulate. Pass my congratulations onto the staff and parents and children for enabling it.’

Chinese New Year, February 2019

Thank you to the PTFA for funding our Chinese New Year workshops.

Chinese new year celebrations began on the 5th February 2019 and last for 15 days. 2019 is the Year of the Earth Pig.

Dragon dances are performed at New Year to scare away evil spirits. The dragon symbolises good luck, long life and wisdom.

We had a visit from a professional dancer who brought a traditional Chinese dragon, parasols and fans for the whole class to create an exciting dance performance. These performances were showcased at the end of the school day for everyone to enjoy.

Reception class made their own Chinese dragon and danced with it in assembly.  See their wonderful display in the hall..

Health & Well-Being Event

What a huge success! From staff & parent Zumba to kids Smoothie Workshops, we had it all. My thanks to those parents who made it, I hope you enjoyed yourselves? Feedback from the event has been very positive especially for Emma Heathcote, Dietitian, who delivered an excellent presentation on Nutrition and bought you all up to date with the latest myths about food.

Our school partners, Hoar Cross Hall, were also there to present the raffle prizes and launch the fabulous corporate membership available to everyone within the RCFS community. I also have to thank Waitrose for their very generous donation of fruit & veg for the “5 a day” pupil workshops, we had lots of fun exploring and tasting a variety of concoctions, some quite tasty!!!!! others, well what can I say your children did test their taste buds if nothing else.

I hope to do more health & well-being events soon so watch this space.
